First meeting of the new year! 2011

Quilting this month was at Alaine's beautiful home perched high on the east bench in Layton.  The view was breathtaking, and so was the adventure of getting up and down her driveway!  There were a few show-and-tells, many projects of hand work, and a few quilters didn't even take a stitch because they were enjoying the opportunity to visit and have a little "group therapy!" We talked about many things including:
blogs, computers, families, church, rug hooking, schools and classes, Christmas and Christmas cards, missionaries, travel, health and of course, our children. One thing we did accomplish was helping Alaine plan her Christmas card for next year! (and just in case we forget... think convertible Corvette!) I think if we were to give a "most productive" award, it would definitely go to Geniel.  We all agreed we would try to follow her example next month by getting our project out as soon as we arrive - and WORK- as we visit!  Thanks Geniel!

Lunch was a delicious lasagna, and/or a chicken casserole with a Spinach salad, grapes, and the most evil and tempting breadsticks - ever.  Scrumptious brownies topped with a layer of marshmallow and then frosted were our "diet-breaker" dessert.

I love seeing the variety of projects each month.  I am always so inspired and amazed.  They range from simple mending, cross stitching, embroidery, applique and hand piecing to the final stitching on a binding.  I love the quilts that some of the ladies have been working on for YEARS.  I am always in awe as they spread out the glorious finished product.  Alaine has just finished one such quilt.  It's beautiful.  I need to start taking pictures to document these huge accomplishments!  I think she said she has been working on it for eight years!  What a treasure.  Long after we are gone, a finished quilt can be a little piece of us that our children can cherish.

We left feeling rejuvenated and inspired by each other!
